Mbale Tigers Conclude Wandera Cup Campaign with Strong Podium Finishes

Mbale Tigers Table Tennis Club wrapped up an impressive campaign at the Wandera Cup in Nairobi, Kenya, with the young stars securing multiple podium finishes across different age categories as the tournament concluded today, March 28, 2026.

The three-day competition brought together top junior talent from across East Africa, and Mbale Tigers rose to the occasion with standout performances, particularly in the U-13 category.

In the U-13 girls’ event, Mbale Tigers dominated the podium with a remarkable one-two finish. Liang Shirat was crowned champion following a series of composed and confident displays, while teammate Ferrera Prosper secured second place, highlighting the club’s strength in developing young female players.

The U-13 boys’ category also saw Mbale Tigers make a strong statement. Onyango Denis of Kisumu claimed first place, but Mbale Tigers’ Osinya Brilliant finished second, with Nabuloli Peace taking third to complete a double podium finish for the Ugandan side.

Osinya Brilliant further demonstrated his versatility by competing in the U-17 boys’ category, where he secured a commendable third-place finish against older and more experienced opponents. The category was won by Sam Akunda of Nakasero, followed by Odoi Denis in second place.

The results underscore Mbale Tigers’ continued commitment to youth development and competitive excellence. Securing podium finishes across multiple categories reflects the players’ growth, discipline, and readiness to compete at regional level.

With the tournament now concluded, Mbale Tigers return home with valuable experience, increased confidence, and a strong statement of intent as one of the region’s leading nurseries of table tennis talent.
