Mbale Tigers Soccer Academy are the new kings of Bugisu football after lifting the 2025/26 Bugisu Province FA Zonal Playoffs title with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Buginyanya Community FC in the final at Lwakhakha Grounds in Namisindwa District.
The triumph capped an outstanding campaign in which the Tigers remained unbeaten, displaying discipline, resilience and attacking quality from the group stages all the way to the championship match.
The final, played on Monday, 22 June 2026, lived up to expectations as two of the tournament’s strongest sides battled for supremacy. Mbale Tigers held their nerve, producing another composed performance to overcome a determined Buginyanya Community FC and deservedly lift the trophy.
A Championship Built on Consistency
The Tigers’ road to glory was one of consistency and determination.
They opened their campaign in the group stage with a confident 2-0 victory over Lwakhakha United, immediately signaling their intentions to challenge for the title.
In the quarter-finals, Mbale Tigers faced a stubborn Bunamutunyi Rangers side. A disciplined defensive display and clinical finishing earned the academy a narrow but deserved 1-0 victory, booking a place in the last four.
The semi-final presented another stern examination against hosts Makunya Giants. Once again, Mbale Tigers rose to the occasion, producing one of their finest performances of the tournament to secure a convincing 2-0 win and a place in the championship match.
With momentum firmly behind them, the academy completed their remarkable journey by defeating Buginyanya Community FC 2-1 in the final, sealing both the championship and promotion to the Bugisu Province League.
Six Teams Earn Promotion
Besides Mbale Tigers’ historic triumph, the tournament also confirmed six clubs that will compete in the Bugisu Province League next season.
The promoted teams are:
- Mbale Tigers Soccer Academy (Mbale DFA)
- Buginyanya Community FC (Bulambuli DFA)
- Kireka Young (Nakaloke) (Mbale DFA)
- Makunya Giants (Namisindwa DFA)
- WOB SS (Sironko DFA)
- Bunamutunyi Rangers (Manafwa DFA)

Winning the zonal playoffs is more than lifting silverware—it reflects the steady growth of the Mbale Tigers football project. The academy continues to invest in developing talented young players capable of competing at higher levels while promoting disciplined, entertaining football.
The championship serves as a reward for the players, coaches, management and supporters whose commitment has driven the academy throughout the season.
As the celebrations continue, attention now turns to the Bugisu Province League, where Mbale Tigers will seek to build on this success and continue their rise through Ugandan football.
For now, however, the Tigers can proudly celebrate a memorable achievement—Bugisu Zonal Playoffs Champions 2025/26.
